With its one-mile commercial district and proximity to some of Napa Valley’s best restaurants – a few by the celebrated chef Thomas Keller – highly walkable Yountville is a chic, if at times costly, place to stay. But amid the luxury resorts, posh hotels, and boutique inns, you’ll find a few lower-priced gems, especially off-season. Book as far ahead as possible in summer, early fall, and on weekends.
What’s Where: Several of the town’s accommodations are along Yountville’s main drag, Washington Street, with a few more a block to the east. The exclusive Poetry Inn occupies a hillside 3 miles northeast of the town center.
Northern Yountville
Lavender
A nine-room bed-and-breakfast with a French country ambiance, the inn contains six courtyard accommodations, a loft suite, and two rooms in a 19th-century farmhouse. If traveling solo and seeking a bargain, ask about the house’s unadvertised small room. $$–$$$
Napa Valley Lodge
Tuscan touches and full amenities enhance 55-room vineyard-edge motel-style lodging with a handsome courtyard surrounding an ample pool. $$$–$$$$
North Block Hotel
Boutique luxury at a 20-room hotel with a pool, an inviting central courtyard, and a restaurant with à la carte and tasting menus. $$$$
Restaurants and Tasting Rooms
Northern Yountville’s restaurants include Ciccio, The French Laundry, R+D Kitchen, The Restaurant at North Block, and RH Restaurant at RH Yountville, all within walking distance of the hotels mentioned above. Hop in the car for the 1.5-mile drive north to Mustards Grill. Try Honor Market for morning scones and lunchtime hot dogs, and Madeleine’s Macarons & Crepes for colorful cookies and sweet and savory crepes.

Central Yountville
Bardessono
Each of this wellness-oriented, eco-chic luxury resort’s 65 accommodations has a built-in massage table; for the ultimate in privacy, book one of the three villa suites. $$$$
Maison Fleurie
Napa Valley’s oldest hotel is one of three buildings at Lavender’s 13-room sister inn; the rate includes a filling breakfast, and the smallest rooms are a great value. $$–$$$
Napa Valley Railway Inn
Seven of the eight well-maintained accommodations here are retired railroad cars (one’s a caboose), and there’s a non-car suite. $$–$$$
Vintage House
One- and two-story brick structures at the more sedate of the 22-acre The Estate Yountville’s two lodgings (the other being the Hotel Villagio) contain 80 contemporary rooms with an upbeat design. $$$–$$
Restaurants and Tasting Rooms
Central Yountville’s restaurants include Bottega, Bouchon Bistro, Clementine, and Lucy. Through Halloween 2025, look for Thomas Keller’s Burgers & Half Bottles pop-up, which may reappear again later. Try Bouchon Bakery or the Mini Model (pint-sized Model Bakery affiliate) for baked goods and coffee.
Taste wines at Cornerstone Cellars, Hestan Vineyards, and JCB Tasting Salon. (Hill Family, listed with the Southern Yountville tasting rooms, is diagonally across from JCB.) Two-ounce pours start at $10 (you can also order by the glass) at the well-curated Wine Country Connection shop, which stocks wines from local to international producers.

Expect suave style and spacious rooms from the largest (113 rooms) of the two The Estate Yountville properties; the Veuve Cliquot–branded Rendez Veuve Spa is Yountville’s largest spa. $$$–$$$$
