Bidding has begun at Sonoma County Vintners Foundation’s online auction.
Some of my favorite wineries and other Sonoma County enterprises are participating in the 2023 SCWA Online Auction. The auction benefits nonprofits funded by the Sonoma County Vintners Foundation. Bidding closes on December 8th.
Tasting Experiences and Wine Selections
The lots include splendid tasting experiences or wine selections from:
Arista Winery (separate Chardonnay and Pinot Noir collections)
Carol Shelton Wines (Rockpile Zin vertical)
Convene by Dan Kosta (Chardonnay and Pinot Noir collections)
The Donum Estate (tasting and estate tour for six, plus four Pinots to take home)
Dry Creek Valley Winegrowers (“instant cellar” of wines from 21 members)
Jeff Cohn Cellars (three cases of single-vineyard GSM, Syrah, and Zinfandel, plus a tasting for six)
Lasseter Family Winery (private tour and tasting for six, plus three bottles of Trinity Ridge Cab)
Mauritson Wines (tour and tasting for six + six different 2018 Rockpile Zin magnums)
Stay, Adventure, Access
There are many more wine options, but you get the idea. You can also bid on a stay at the Farmhouse Inn, an adventure at Safari West, or VIP access to next year’s Taste of Sonoma wine event (plus a bottle each from 24 wineries).
Intriguing Lot
A most intriguing lot involves everyone in the lead photo. Mark Stark (top left) of Willi’s Wine Bar, the new Augie’s French, and other Stark Reality Restaurants, and Dustin Valette (top right) of The Matheson Healdsburg and Valette Restaurant will engage in a (friendly, we’re sure) “Iron Chef-style competition” at the designer home (Howard Backen) of Joe Anderson and Mary Dewane (center right), owners of Benovia Winery.
But there’s more! While the two chefs duke it out, the three bid-winning couples get to chat with winemakers Mike Sullivan of Benovia (bottom right) and Pierre and Hélène Seillan of Vérité Winery (bottom left, center left). I’ve had the pleasure of conversing with everyone who’s part of this evening – it’s a guaranteed fabulous time.
Info
You can bid from anywhere in the world. The SCWA website has auction info and details about the many organizations funded through the generosity of the participating concerns.
